In this project, we studied how the United States government works as a whole, and we studied the Republican and Democratic perspectives on three issues: Immigration reform, climate change, and college debt. We then studied specific senators' stances on those issues and wrote legislation to fix one of the three issues, based on their views. I had the role of Majority Whip in this project (Senator John Cornyn, Republican), which meant that I did not write legislation but I had to research all three issues extensively, create guidelines for Model Senate procedure, and build a favorable consensus on each of the issues so that the majority of the Model Senate would vote the way I wanted.
